How we use it

We track how often your brand is mentioned and cited across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, benchmark citation share against named competitors, and report it beside GA4 and Search Console.

Where it fits

Necessary in 2026 because visibility and traffic have separated. With roughly 60% of Google searches ending without a click — and 60% to 93% zero-click rates on AI search products — a brand can be highly visible and see little referral traffic. If you only measure sessions, you cannot see that happening.

Why we rely on it
Brands cited in AI Overviews have been measured earning around 35% more organic clicks than uncited brands on the same query
AI-referred visitors have been reported converting at multiples of traditional organic traffic, so quality matters more than volume
Gives a defensible KPI set: brand mention rate, citation share of voice, and revenue at risk from absent citations

Why this measurement did not exist three years ago

Traditional analytics answer one question: who came to the website and what did they do. That was sufficient while discovery ended in a click. It is no longer sufficient, because a large share of buyers now form a view of your market inside an AI answer and never generate a session at all.

Research through 2026 puts roughly 60% of Google searches as ending without a click, with AI search products running zero-click rates between 60% and 93%. Those buyers still made a decision — you simply have no record of it. AI visibility tracking exists to close that blind spot.

What we track

Brand mention rate: how often you are named in responses to the questions your buyers actually ask, across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. Citation share of voice: how that compares to named competitors on the same prompts. Sentiment and accuracy: whether what the engines say about you is favourable and, importantly, correct — misattributed services and outdated facts are common and fixable.

Alongside that we track AI referral traffic and its conversion quality, and the relationship between citation frequency and branded search demand. Advanced programmes add the revenue visibility gap: an estimate of revenue at risk where competitors are cited and you are absent.

How it changes decisions

The data reframes what looks like bad news. Brands cited inside AI Overviews have been measured earning around 35% more organic clicks and 91% more paid clicks than uncited brands on the same query, and AI-referred visitors have been reported converting at multiples of traditional organic traffic. Fewer visits, better ones.

Practically, this tells you where to spend. If engines describe your category accurately but never mention you, the problem is entity clarity and earned sources — not more blog posts. If they mention you inaccurately, the fix is structured data and authoritative correction. Without the measurement, both look identical in Google Analytics: flat traffic and no explanation.
