The challenge

The Nationals WA campaign in electorates the metropolitan media rarely covers, across distances that make a single state-wide message useless. A grain-belt seat and a Pilbara seat do not share a top issue, yet the party brand has to read as one thing. Add a fixed polling date, an opponent responding the same day, and strict authorisation and disclosure obligations on every asset, and the work becomes an exercise in disciplined repetition under time pressure.

Our approach

We run the campaign as one platform with local expression: a party-level message architecture, then electorate-level creative that leads with the issue that actually moves that seat — freight, health access, water, telecommunications — inside the same visual and tonal system. Media is planned for regional reality: commercial and community radio, regional television and print carry weight that metropolitan planners undervalue, and we buy them alongside geo-fenced digital and search. The schedule sequences awareness, then contrast, then get-out-the-vote and pre-poll, and every asset clears authorisation before placement.

AI assists analysis; the campaign decides message
Data, measurement & AI in this engagement

Performance is read daily as proportional metrics — reach and frequency by electorate, digital engagement rate by issue theme, and the cost movement as the field crowds in the final fortnight — so budget shifts to the seats and messages where it is moving something. AI assists the pattern-finding across that reporting; strategists and the campaign team make every call about message.

Where this goes next — the AI opportunity

Faster issue and sentiment monitoring across regional media to inform rapid response — briefing human strategists, never generating political messaging automatically.
